Job Overview
The Naghavi Lab in the Department of Microbiology-Immunology at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago is hiring postdoctoral researchers.
The positions are on NIH-funded projects studying the biology of virus infection in different cell types and its links to neurodegeneration.
Research focuses on HIV-1 host factors that regulate infection in microglia and primary neurons.
One project area studies specialized microtubule regulators and kinesin adaptor proteins that HIV-1 exploits for intracellular transport and infection.
Another area found that Amyloid Precursor Protein is highly expressed in microglia and limits HIV-1 spread, with potential therapeutic opportunities in how it interacts with the virus.
The projects use molecular biological approaches plus live cell imaging of virus movement and microtubule dynamics in microglia.
Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent with strong research experience in virology, neuroscience, or molecular biology.
Applicants with fluorescence microscopy and live imaging experience are particularly encouraged.
Interested applicants should email a complete CV, a brief description of research achievements and interests, and three referees to Mojgan.Naghavi@Northwestern.edu.
