Job Overview
Northwestern University's School of Education and Social Policy is seeking a postdoctoral fellow in the learning sciences for a National Science Foundation-funded project.
The project aims to improve understanding of dynamic equilibrium across multiple sciences and develop a unified framework for defining it.
Fellows will help develop, implement and evaluate science units with computational activities for middle school and high school students.
The work also includes producing new modelling software so students can see and explore dynamic equilibrium in action.
Fellows will fully participate in the Center for Connected Learning and Computer-Based Modeling research laboratory.
Responsibilities include co-supervising graduate students and staff, publishing research papers, and contributing to grant writing and materials development.
The fellow will also help design computational tools, work closely with implementing schools, and help shape the overall scope and direction of the research.
Successful candidates need a doctorate in learning sciences or a related field, strengths in research methods, a science background, and good communication skills.
Experience with lab- and classroom-based research is required, and the fellowship runs two years with possible renewal for a third, starting as soon as possible.
To apply, send a cover letter, CV, sample publications and names and contact details for three references to the email on the posting, with review beginning immediately until filled.
