Job Overview
Northwestern University's Center for Connected Learning and Computer-Based Modeling (CCL) and NetLogo Center are hiring a full-time Curriculum Developer and Teacher Educator for people passionate about science and the future of science education. The core responsibility is compiling and organizing NetLogo-based curricula spanning chemistry, biology, physics, earth science, and social science - all built around NetLogo models of the relevant phenomena. The hire will reformat older curricula so they can be shared on Google Docs and other websites, and organize them on web pages that are easy to view and search. The role also identifies directions for further curricular development across disciplines. A major component is developing innovative, scalable teacher-education workshops that show teachers how to bring computational modeling into classrooms using NetLogo. Outreach duties include recruiting teachers to the center's teacher-education programs, building relationships with schools, and presenting at conferences. Minimum qualifications are a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a relevant field - natural science, social science, education, learning sciences - or an equivalent combination of education and experience, plus experience designing educational materials or experiences. Preferred qualifications include an advanced degree, significant science/math/social-studies teaching experience, instructional design experience, educational-technology design, and experience running workshops or doing K-12 outreach. Review of applications begins immediately and continues until the position is filled; a formal application through Northwestern's job board is also required. Candidates apply by emailing a cover letter, resume, and other relevant materials to the CCL application address shown on the posting.
