Job Overview

The University of Washington's SafeCampus programme is hiring an RSE and Postdoc Training Specialist for its Empowering Prevention and Inclusive Communities programme. The programme delivers prevention of sexual harassment training for academic student employees, postdoctoral scholars and research scientists and engineers. This position focuses on the research scientist and engineer community and the postdoctoral scholar community, building on a programme first developed in 2018-2019. After adapting the curriculum, the specialist will facilitate trainings supporting the wellbeing and safety of the university community. Training content covers sexual harassment, discrimination, intersectional power dynamics, bystander intervention, response options, university policies and union rights. Duties include facilitating trainings, adapting curriculum, implementing evaluation, creating outreach plans and programme materials, and coordinating logistics with departments. The specialist will also maintain training records and develop programme progress reports, working Monday to Friday in SafeCampus business hours. The appointment ranges from 20% to 80% full-time equivalent over the academic year, with possible renewal, and is hybrid with a work location in the SafeCampus office on the Seattle campus. Some evening work and limited travel to Tacoma and Bothell campuses may be required, and preference is given to people formally employed as research scientists, engineers or postdoctoral scholars at UW. To apply, supply a resume and cover letter to the email on the posting, with applications reviewed and interviews conducted on a rolling basis.
