Job Overview
The Kalish Lab at Boston Children's Hospital is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to study developmental neurobiology and neuroimmunology, with a mission to understand the mechanisms of fetal and neonatal brain injury and the early-life origins of neurodevelopmental disorders.
Potential projects include the role of cytokines and chemokines in early neurodevelopment, mechanisms by which the maternal gut-immune axis shapes fetal neurodevelopment, and neuro-immune trajectories after early-life brain injury.
The research uses animal models, human cell culture, advanced spatial biology, mouse behavior, and brain circuit mapping, with opportunities to leverage data from human-relevant large animal models of neonatal brain injury.
Responsibilities include developing and applying neuroimmunology approaches to map and manipulate the immune response to brain injury, leading animal model-based experiments, employing single-cell and spatial biology tools, collaborating with and mentoring team members, maintaining lab records, and contributing to publications and grant proposals.
Qualifications: MD, PhD, or MD/PhD; experience in developmental neurobiology (immunology experience strongly preferred); expertise in multi-color flow cytometry and/or single-cell biology; bioinformatics experience including data analysis in R or Python; excellent communication and presentation skills; and a track record of peer-reviewed publications.
The fellow must be able to work independently and in a collaborative team environment with strong organizational skills.
Salary is determined by PGY level and ranges from $70,000-$77,267.
To apply, email a cover letter and CV to Dr. Brian Kalish.
