Job Overview
The Kalish Lab at Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School is recruiting a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in developmental neurobiology and neuroimmunology.
The lab studies mechanisms of fetal and neonatal brain injury and the early-life origins of neurodevelopmental disorders, building a translational bedside-to-bench-to-bedside platform.
Potential projects include the role of cytokines and chemokines in early neurodevelopment, how the maternal gut-immune axis shapes fetal neurodevelopment, and the neuro-immune trajectory after early-life brain injury.
Methods span animal models, human cell culture, advanced spatial biology, mouse behavior, and brain circuit mapping, with access to human-relevant large animal models of neonatal brain injury.
Responsibilities include developing and applying neuroimmunology approaches, leading animal-model experiments, using single-cell and spatial biology tools, collaborating with and mentoring team members, keeping lab records, and contributing to publications and grant proposals.
Qualifications require an MD, PhD, or MD/PhD with developmental neurobiology experience; immunology experience strongly preferred, expertise in multi-color flow cytometry and/or single-cell biology, bioinformatics data analysis in R or Python, strong communication skills, and a track record of peer-reviewed publications.
This is an exempt role with salary set by PGY level, ranging from $70,000 to $77,267, plus comprehensive benefits including flexible schedules and child-care and student-loan subsidies.
To apply, email a cover letter and CV to Dr. Brian Kalish at Brian.Kalish@childrens.harvard.edu.
