Job Overview

The Yu Lab at Boston Children's Hospital (Division of Genetics and Genomics) is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join its interdisciplinary team, ideally with expertise in molecular and cellular biology, neuroscience, genomics, or experimental therapeutics. The lab focuses on autism genetics and translational genomics, integrating genetics, neurobiology, and bioinformatics to understand and treat rare pediatric neurological diseases. Projects span computational genomic analysis of large autism cohorts, genome sequencing applications in newborn screening and the NICU, platform approaches for individualized therapies for rare neurogenetic diseases, rapid-turnaround genomic sequencing in the NICU, and institution-wide rare disease genomics cohorts. The lab pioneered individualized genomic medicine with antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs), including the world's first fully individualized ASO therapy for a young girl with a fatal neurogenetic disorder in 2018, with additional n=1 therapeutic programs in preclinical and clinical stages in collaboration with the FDA. The fellow will design and conduct independent research projects in neurogenetics and genomic medicine, apply molecular, cellular, and genomic techniques, develop experimental neurobiological models, analyze data, collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, and prepare manuscripts, presentations, and grant applications. Qualifications: PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent in genetics, neuroscience, molecular biology, bioinformatics, or a related field; experience with ASO development or RNA-targeting therapeutics preferred; experience with human iPSCs and neuronal differentiation strongly preferred; experience with genomic technologies, neurobiological models, or therapeutic development highly desirable; and demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively. Interested candidates submit a CV, a brief statement of research interests, and contact information for three references by email. Salary range $70,000-$80,000.
