Job Overview
The Thomas lab in the University of Washington's Department of Bioengineering has an opening for a postdoctoral fellow.
The fellow will run single-molecule force spectroscopy experiments on the mechanical regulation of thrombosis through von Willebrand Factor, and/or the mechanical regulation of bacterial adhesion during endocarditis, an infection of heart valves.
Both projects allow independent work as well as collaboration within large multidisciplinary teams.
Candidates should have or be near completing a PhD or equivalent in bioengineering, biophysics, or a related field.
Ideal experience includes single-molecule force spectroscopy or other quantitative functional biophysics experiments; molecular biology and protein expression experience is also helpful.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams are expected.
UW is an equal opportunity employer, and the lab strongly encourages applications from women and minority candidates.
Interested candidates send a cover letter and a CV with publication list and contact information for three references to Wendy Thomas at wendyt@uw.edu.
