Job Overview
MIT's Center for Sustainability Science and Strategy is hiring a Postdoctoral Associate.
The associate will join an interdisciplinary team of climate scientists, mathematicians, economists, and software engineers.
The work involves developing, validating, and using efficient and flexible model architectures around Earth system models and fast-running model emulators.
The associate will work closely with the MIT Climate Project to demonstrate near-term impacts in addressing climate challenges.
A Ph.D. in applied mathematics, atmospheric or oceanic sciences, computer science, engineering, physics, statistics, or a related field is required by the hire date.
Strong physical, mathematical, and computational background is needed, with programming in at least one general-purpose language (preferably Julia) and parallel computing experience.
Expertise is expected in areas such as climate or human-systems model emulators, a new model 'builder' platform, or applying emulators to coastal resilience planning.
Applicants email a cover letter, CV, and one peer-reviewed publication; three recommendation letters are sent separately.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis; the start date can be any time after July 1.
This is a one-year, full-time position with a possibility of extension; pay range is $73,308-$90,000.
