Healthcare Support Worker - Surgical Wards

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is recruiting Healthcare Support Workers for surgical wards across its Glasgow hospital sites on a rolling basis. The role supports nursing teams in pre- and post-operative patient care, including personal care, nutrition, mobility and comfort for surgical patients. Duties include carrying out clinical observations, assisting with patient transfers, and preparing patients for theatre and supporting their recovery afterwards. Support workers will help maintain ward cleanliness, manage linen and supplies, and ensure equipment is clean and ready for use. Candidates should be caring and reliable with strong teamwork skills and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced surgical environment. No formal qualifications are required, with comprehensive induction and ongoing development including SVQ support provided by the board. Applicants must be able to work a range of shifts including nights, weekends and public holidays on a rotational basis.
